As the charity partner for the Binghamton Pond Festival, the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier is recruiting volunteers to help with this fun winter event to be held at Chenango Valley State Park in January. Tasks range from attending to the entrance gate, helping register hockey players, selling BPF merchandise, working at the MHAST information table, to assisting with the electronic scoring and scheduling. In addition to outdoor skating and hockey, the Friends of the Park will be organizing plenty of winter fun activities for families and kids of all ages, including, nature walks, sledding, fireworks, s’mores and hot cocoa! There will be
food trucks, adult beverages, bands playing, and more – specific details are available at www.bingpondfest.com.
Volunteers are needed for 2- to 3-hour shifts on January 12 and 13, and 25, 26 and 27. Detailed shift times are available by contacting Erin Sweeney at MHAST at firstname.lastname@example.org or 607-771-8888 x315. There is also a volunteer form to fill out at https://www.bingpondfest.com/volunteer.html and MHAST will email or call back to work out shift assignments.
Proceeds from this event will benefit DIFD Power to the Purple, our youth mental wellness and suicide awareness program. This youth-driven initiative focuses on raising awareness through education and inspiring conversations about mental health. It encourages young people to talk
openly about mental illness without fear or shame. This includes a promise to ask for help when needed and to support others in getting the help they need. It’s all about encouraging conversation!
