Addiction Treatment Center in Binghamton opens

The SBH Binghamton Evaluation Center opens Friday, April 6, with 25 beds available for anyone seeking help for addiction. A second wing will be opened next week, bringing the total number of beds to 50.

All the beds at the former Broome Developmental Center are for detox, a step in the treatment process often required before seeking long-term treatment.

Bringing this center to Broome County took over a year and $1.5 million in state funding.

Currently, the whole facility is dedicated to detox, with patients staying in the beds for 2 to 5 days. If Phase 2 of the program is approved, there’s a possibility for more types of treatment.
